Associate Professor,
Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto Abstract: Prof. Mina Tadrous (University of Toronto) is the founding director of the Toronto Centre for Real-world Evidence and co-director of the Ontario Drug Policy Research Network (ODPRN) and holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Real-World Evidence and Pharmaceutical Policy. His research focuses on the use of real-world data to inform pharmaceutical policy and optimize medication use. In this seminar, he will discuss how real-world evidence (RWE) can move beyond promise to directly inform policy decisions. Drawing on Canadian examples, the talk will highlight evaluations of drug policy interventions, the uptake and impact of biosimilar policies, and strategies to understand and mitigate drug shortages using large-scale data sources. The session will emphasize how close collaboration with policymakers enables actionable evidence generation, shaping policies that improve access, sustainability, and appropriate use of medications. The talk will conclude with a discussion on emerging opportunities for RWE to address ongoing challenges in pharmaceutical systems globally. |
