Congratulations to Ms. Yicheng Lu on receiving the 2026 Career Development Grant from the Drug Delivery to Lungs (DDL) Conference!

Yicheng is a PhD student in our Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy under the supervision of Professor Aviva Chow. We are delighted to celebrate this achievement and the support it provides for her continued development as a researcher.  

The DDL Career Development Grant supports new and emerging scientists by funding projects that advance their professional development in respiratory science, with a particular focus on drug delivery to the lungs.

Congratulations to Yicheng and her supervisor, Professor Chow! We look forward to seeing her research progress and future contributions to drug delivery science.

Departmental Staff Meeting 2026

The Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy successfully held its Departmental Staff Meeting on 23 September 2026 at the Faculty Boardroom.

The meeting brought together colleagues from the Professoriate, Teaching, Administrative, Technical, and IT teams to reflect on recent achievements and share updates on departmental developments and upcoming initiatives. Discussions covered key activities in teaching, research, operations, and strategic priorities, fostering collaboration and alignment across the Department.

The Department extends its sincere appreciation to all colleagues for their active participation, valuable contributions, and unwavering commitment to excellence. We look forward to building on our collective achievements as we advance our missions in teaching, research, knowledge exchange, and service.

 

Congratulations to Dr Jinzhao Liu – Li Ka Shing Prize 2024–25

Established through a generous donation from Dr Li Ka Shing, the Li Ka Shing Prizes are awarded annually to outstanding graduates who have produced excellent theses across the University’s faculty groups. Only four PhD graduates are selected for the award each year.

Congratulations to Professor Clara Lau – 2027 ASP Varro E. Tyler Prize

Congratulations to Professor Clara Bik-San Lau on being selected as the 2027 recipient of the Varro E. Tyler Prize by the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP), becoming the first Asian female awardee of this prestigious honour. The announcement was made at the ASP Annual Meeting held in July 2026.

The Varro E. Tyler Prize, one of the Society’s two flagship awards, recognises outstanding lifetime scientific contributions to the field of dietary supplements, with particular emphasis on botanicals and research in phytochemistry, pharmacognosy and pharmacology.

Professor Lau has over 30 years of expertise in the pharmacology of herbal medicines, with research spanning anti-cancer herbs and natural products, beneficial herb-drug combinations, and integrative medicine. She has published almost 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and has been recognised among the world’s leading researchers in her field.

The award will be presented at the 2027 ASP Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, where Professor Lau will deliver a featured award lecture reflecting on her lifetime achievements in pharmacognosy research and her contributions to advancing the scientific understanding of herbal medicines and natural products in promoting human health.
