The Department of Pharmacology was established. In the early years, the Department was mainly involved in the teaching of medical students.

The working group for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programme was established. In the following year, the proposal of setting up a new BPharm program was approved by the Faculty Board of Medicine.

The first press conference and admission talk was held to introduce the new Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) programme to the general public. In the same year, the Department was renamed ‘Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy.

The new Bachelor of Pharmacy Program (BPharm) was launched with the intake of the first cohort of pharmacy students, admitting the first 26 undergraduate students.

The first white coat ceremony for the BPharm students was held. The ceremony marked the pledge to commit to the profession of pharmacy and the professionalism.

The BPharm programme successfully obtained the accreditation by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board. In the same year, the first cohort of BPharm students graduated.

The Centre for Safe Medication Practice and Research (CSMPR) was established. The founding mission was to improve the health and quality of life of patients through interdisciplinary collaborative research that addresses questions central to medication safety.

The new Master of Clinical Pharmacy Program (MClinPharm) was launched. The first cohort of master students graduated in 2015.

The State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology opens. It was approved by Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) with the funding support from Hong Kong Innovation & Technology Council (ITC)

The new Pharmacy Practice Centre was established, consisting of a simulated hospital pharmacy and a simulated community pharmacy. This facility is used for training pharmacy students in all aspects of practice including dispensing, counselling patients and health education.

The Pharmacy Practice Research Unit was established. The unit aims to demonstrate the importance of pharmacists in healthcare system through research, knowledge exchange, teaching and learning.

The Department celebrates the 10th year anniversary! In the past decade, 183 BPharm students and 87 MClinPharm students graduated from our department.
