Speaker:
Mr. Yasir Luqman

Pharmacist,
Founder of Multicultural Health Services and the Project Leader for Medi Help

Abstract:
In the seminar, Mr. Yasir Luqman, pharmacist, founder of Multicultural Health Services and the Project Leader for Medi Help, will introduce their project, highlighting its significance in addressing common drug-related problems encountered in diverse populations in Hong Kong. He will discuss prevalent misconceptions that contribute to these drug-related problems, emphasizing the need for cultural sensitivity when prescribing and monitoring medications in clinical practice.

Particularly relevant during this session is the introduction of the fasting month (Ramadan), where special attention will be paid to medication dose adjustments that are required for patients observing fasting, ensuring their medication regimens remain safe and effective.

Additionally, he will touch upon the importance of accommodating specific dietary needs, such as halal and vegan requirements, in pharmaceutical care. This multifaceted approach will enhance understanding of how to better serve multicultural patients, ultimately bridging the gap between pharmaceutical practices and diverse cultural beliefs.
