Biography

Janet Kit-ting Wong received her Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Cardiology degrees at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She developed expertise in cardiology and primary care pharmacy practice through collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in the local community setting.

Janet is committed to innovating local pharmacy education by promoting practice-informed teaching and learning, as exemplified by her establishing of the first teaching community pharmacy in Hong Kong, co-leading the design and implementation of pharmacy experiential education and pharmacy enrichment programmes (Details: pharmhub.hku.hk). Since she joined HKU in 2018, Janet has been driving the progressive development in the postgraduate pharmacy curriculum to meet the ever-evolving needs in the profession. Janet received Early Career Teaching Award from HKU in 2021 for her teaching excellence.

Janet has pioneered the concept of primary care pharmacy services in Hong Kong and she has contributed significantly to the growing recognition of the role of community pharmacists. She established the Primary Care Pharmacy Consortium at HKU in 2019 as a platform to promote collaborations between academia, social service and healthcare providers on service implementation, research, and education. Drawing on the synergy of her dual roles as a faculty member and a frontline practitioner leader at the Health In Action Community Pharmacy (non-profit), Janet has been working closely with community service providers to transform and integrate pharmacy practice into the integrated multidisciplinary care model in primary care. Ms Wong has led the development of local Immunisation Training Programme for pharmacists, which has trained over three hundred of local pharmacists for the expanded role since 2020. Currently, Janet is working closely various stakeholders of primary healthcare to lead the development of the professional training framework for primary care pharmacists and the community-based medication management service model for territory-wide implementation.
